Belmont—–Mark Robert Mauzy II, 38, of 19 Holiday Lane, died at his home on Thursday, August 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Mauzy was born June 13, 1976 in Manchester, N.H., the son of Donna (Potter) and Mark Robert Mauzy I. He resided in Londonderry before moving to Belmont thirty-two years ago. He was a perfectionist as a metal roofer for eighteen years and had been employed at Vutex in Meredith for two years. He owned and operated the Galaxy Gym in Belmont as well as the Hot Dog Stand, Mauz Dawgz. Mr. Mauzy always enjoyed starting new projects at home, making scooters, metal pinwheels and garden boxes. Stacey got him started in gardening six years ago and he took it to another level. He enjoyed kayaking and loved, Jawzie, his bulldog. Mr. Mauzy was an amazing father to his three little girls. From Stacey and the girls, “Mark, we will forever love you”. He was loving to his fiancée, friends and family. His family will always hold him close and he will never be forgotten. Survivors include his daughters, Melana Marie Mauzy, Rylie Nicole Sylvia and Alahni Lee Mauzy; his mother, Donna Mauzy; his stepfather, Robert Arthur Benwell, Jr.; his fiancée, Stacey White two sisters, Jamie Lee Martinez and Katrina T. Belmont—– Arthur Henry Scott, Jr., 84, died at his home on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Mr. Scott was born July 19, 1930 in Fort Totten, Queens, New York, the son of the late Arthur H. and Isabel Elizabeth (Bidwell) Scott. Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 and resided in New York for many years before moving to Belmont forty-two years ago. He had been employed by Genesis Eldercare for thirteen years before retiring. Mr. Scott was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in Belmont. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laconia Post #1670. Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Frances M. She was born September 8, 1960, in Laconia New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Dorothy M. Lamontagne and Myron O. Bowles. She was originally a Laconia native before moving to Belmont with her husband in 1984. Donna was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with her beloved husband, Richard all over New Hampshire, especially taking back roads and trips around different lakes in the state. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Richard Ardine; a son, Aaron R. Ardine; two daughters Amber Ardine and Erika Ardine; two brothers, Michael Bowles and his wife Janet, and Myron Bowles; one grandchild, Zoey Day; three nephews, Jason Bowles, Charlie Bowles and Fred Bowles and a great niece, Shayla Bowles. Mrs. Poire was born November 20, 1922 in Northfield, the daughter of Julius and Agnes (Mokszycke) Uscilka. She had resided in Belmont for seventy years coming from Northfield. She had worked as a needle operator for thirty-five years for Scott & Williams. Mrs. Poire loved gardening, baking, sewing and taking care of her family. She had a great sense of humor and determination to live independently at home with the help and support of many friends and family. Belmont—–Scott Thomas Goulette, 40, died on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his home in Belmont. Scott was born February 15, 1974 in Barre, Vermont, the son of Thomas and Janet (Simoneau) Goulette. He grew up in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School. After high school he attended college and then served a tour of duty in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. After the service Scott traveled. He lived in Jackson Hole Wyoming where he loved meeting people from all over the world and working as a snowmobile guide in the mountains. He moved on to live in Cleveland Ohio, where he enjoyed the professional sports teams and the numerous golf courses that gave him a chance to play the game that he loved. Scott loved people and was always interested in jobs where he could help someone. After moving back to New Hampshire he worked as a car salesman at White Mountain Chrysler /Plymouth/Jeep in Plymouth for a number of years and then moved on to become a Corrections Officer for Merrimack County for a number of years. He was currently working at Bow Auto Parts. Survivors include Scott’s parents, brother Eric of Hillsboro, his maternal grandmother Doris Simoneau of Laconia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother Jim, paternal grandmother Margaret Goulette of Barre, Vermont, and his maternal grandfather, Raymond Simoneau of Laconia, and his cousin Kyle Kabachis of Laconia. He worked as a self-employed contractor for a number of years and most recently worked for Don Morin & Associates in Laconia. He was a muscle car enthusiast and enjoyed drag racing. Steven was known as a jack of all trades. Belmont—–Raymond F. Prentiss, 69, of Edgewood Drive, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester after a courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born April 29, 1945 in Danvers, Mass., the son of the late John and Nora (Kiley) Prentiss. Ray was raised in Essex, Mass and attended Gloucester High School. Following school, he served in the USAF, serving in Vietnam. He was a route salesman for J.J. Nissan Foods and Frito Lay up to the time of his retirement. Ray was a proud member of the American Legion Post #49 of Tilton and the VFW Post #1670 of Laconia as well as a member of the Laconia Elks #876 of Gilford. She resided in Laconia and wintered in Florida for many years before moving to Belmont five years ago. Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belmont. She enjoyed quilting, wood crafting, flowers, gardening, bird watching, reading and puzzles. She traveled to most of the states and loved sharing on Facebook. She is survived by two sons; Shawn R. BELMONT – Donald Glen Sanborn Jr, 64, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends after a long illness. He was born in Claremont, NH on May 1, 1950, the son of Donald G. Sr. and Betty (Madeya) Sanborn. He grew up in the Laconia area where he met his wife, Frances. Don was a commercial truck driver, driving 18 wheelers most of his life. Throughout his career he worked for a number of places, such as driving sweepers for Rules Sweeping for a number of years and also driving for Willie Nelson Construction. With a deep love for trucking, he was always found behind the wheel of a big rig. Donald was a man who had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances (Shaw) Sanborn of Belmont, his daughters; Tammy Sanborn of Laconia, Bilinda Mooney Davis of Campton, his sons; Donald G. Belmont – Marguerite “Peggy” O’Neil White of Belmont, New Hampshire died on Thursday December 25th, 2014 after a brief illness. Peggy was born in Manchester, NH on September 21, 1943. She was the daughter of Beatrice (Brown) and Maurice O’Neil. She spent her entire childhood growing up in Manchester. She attended Manchester schools and trade school. In 1964, she married Stephen White and they moved to California and started a family. Nothing made Peggy happier than being a mom and then a grandmother. After starting a family in California, she moved with her family to Manchester, Hooksett and Gilmanton NH before she finally settled her later years in Belmont. She enjoyed a variety of careers throughout her years. She owned her own business out of her home in Gilmanton called “Country House Plastics” for many years. She worked at National Power Products in Belmont and then she worked as a cashier at Gus’ Country Store (now known as D&D) in Belmont. She enjoyed serving the public and many regulars knew her by name at the store. Throughout Peggy’s life, she enjoyed spending all her time with her children and grandchildren. Many days were spent visiting Rye Beach, York Beach Lighthouse, Kennebunkport, Maine, camping throughout Maine and NH and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. Family and closest friends knew her as “Mae,” the woman that could always keep people laughing and feed them well. She would make her favorite dishes and have over friends and family all the time. You never left Peggy’s house hungry. She would love to make hearty dishes and give them to people in the community that needed a meal. Peggy loved to tell stories and feed everyone she knew. Peggy is survived by her daughter Colleen Benavides and her husband Gus of Gilford, her son, Steve White and his wife Jennifer, of Gilmanton. She is also survived by her most loved 5 grandchildren: Saige Benavides of Boston MA, Malcolm Benavides of Boston MA, Noelle Benavides of Gilford NH, Carly White of Gilmanton NH and Cameron White of Gilmanton NH. She is survived by her sister Arlene Field of Manchester NH, her brothers Jim O’Neil of Belmont NH and Bill O’Neil and his wife Teri of Manchester NH and many nieces and nephews as well as her faithful dog Maggie. She was predeceased by her sister Mildred O’Neil, brothers Maurice “Sparky” O’Neil and Richard O’Neil and her ex-husband Steve White. We would like to extend our appreciation to the Nurses, LNA’s and Aides that assisted Peggy at Lakes Region General Hospital during her time there as well as Central NH Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice out of Laconia. Their kindheartedness, dedication and compassion during Peggy’s final days were absolutely secondary to none and extremely impressive. To our extended family members and warmhearted friends, we are grateful for your support and love during the past two months. To follow Peggy’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Peggy’s life long wish was to be remembered by her loving laugh and ability to cook a great meal, so Peggy will be honored at a family luncheon on February 7th at 1PM at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Colleen and Gus Benavides at 35 Larch Drive in Gilford NH. Mike is a long time resident of Belmont and had been working as a professional painter for Bentley Quality painting for over 20 years. Mike was an avid pool player and will be remembered most for his kind generous heart, lending a hand or helping anyway he could. Even if it meant giving the shirt off his own back. BELMONT – Mark A. Gonyer, 52, of 47 Union Road, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital. He was born on December 27, 1962 in Laconia, the son of Roger and Dorothy (Gilbert) Gonyer. Mark served in the US Army National Guard for 20 years, participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. Most recently, he worked as a truck driver and instructor for the NH Department of Transportation. He was known as a proud American who loved the American flag. He was a member of the VFW Post 1670 in Laconia. In addition to his mother of Laconia, He is survived by his life partner, Cindy Parrington of Belmont, two step daughters; Kelly Parrington of Belmont and Laura Kelley of Gilmanton, two brothers; Stephen Gonyer and his wife Denise of Gilford and Alfred Gonyer and his wife Youngran of Germany, two sisters; Ricarda “Ricci” Dutile and her husband Michael of Laconia and Sharon Eaton of Laconia, one grandchild, Maria, several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law and extended family. BELMONT – John Henry Bancroft Sr., 84, of 68 Tioga Drive, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital. He was born on March 20, 1930 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of the late James and Mary Ella (Ellsworth) Bancroft. He served in the US Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict. John worked as a printer since the age of fifteen and was the President of J & J Printing in Laconia and later Gilford. He was an avid dog lover, especially Dobermans. He was a therapy dog volunteer at the New Hampshire Veterans Home and had a passion for the very young and the very old. He was an honorary Kiwanian and worked with a number of service groups. John not only enjoyed family gatherings, but enjoyed Doberman get-togethers also. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carolyn (Alcorn) Bancroft of Belmont, two sons; John H. Bancroft Jr. of Glencliff, NH and Stephen Bancroft of Laconia, three daughters; Linda Bunk and her husband Mickey of Windsor, Conn., Judy Gessford of Simsbury, Conn and Lisa (Manning) Nally and her husband John of Ashland, eight grandchildren; Nichole Bunk Moran and her husband Sean, Molly Gessford, David Gessford, Jacob Bancroft, Sarah Manning, Jennifer Manning, Kyle Manning and John H. Belmont—–Neil Raymond Noyes, Sr., 83, of Jamestown Road, died at his home on Monday February 23, 2015. Neil was born in Laconia on July 20, 1931 the son of Hilton H. and Evelyn (Hill) Noyes. He grew up in Winnisquam and moved to Belmont sixty years ago. Neil was a descendant of John Leavitt and Elisha Smith, two of the petitioners for grants of land for Meredith, now Laconia. Neil was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War on the USS Shadwell. Neil was a Boiler-Room Fireman for the Johns-Manville Corporation and the Quin-T Corporation. Neil enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, yard sales, growing his own Christmas trees and spending time at his camp up north. He was a former member of the Winnisquam Fire Department. Neil is survived by his wife, Elsie (Davis) Noyes, of Belmont; two sons, Neil “Butch” R. Noyes, Jr. and his wife, Ellen, of Belmont and Richard W. Noyes and his wife, Lorraine, of Orange Grove, Tx; six grandchildren, David, Michael and Desiree Noyes, Rachel Guyer, Don Cross and William Neal and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by daughters, Kathleen T. Ober, Angela Carol Noyes and by his brothers Hilton F. Noyes, Herbert H. Noyes and Waldo H. Noyes.
